Please note that we do not hold the electoral register. Every local authority holds the electoral register for their own area. If you want to check if you’re registered to vote or want to update your registration details because you have moved home for example, you must contact your local electoral registration office – you can find their contact details by entering your postcode in the ‘Your local area’ section on our homepage.

Do I need to re-register to vote in the EU referendum?

Anyone who was already registered to vote (or recently registered) before the 18 April deadline for the elections taking place across the UK on 5 May will also be registered to vote at the EU Referendum and will be able to cast their vote. You do not need to re-register.

If your circumstances change, for example you move home between now and the EU Referendum registration on 7 June, then you will need to re-register at your new property.

If you are based overseas and you would like to register to vote in the forthcoming EU Referendum, you must have been on the electoral register within the last 15 years. Any queries that you have about your eligibility to register should be directed to the Electoral Registration Officer at your local authority where you were last registered in the UK – you can find their contact details by entering your postcode in the ‘Your local area’ section on our homepage.
