Elections 2009
On 4 June 2009, European Parliamentary
elections take place throughout the UK, and local elections
take place in some areas of England. Polling stations will be
open from 7am to 10pm. You should have by now received your
poll card - check with your local elections office if you're not
sure where to go.
If you want to vote, make sure nothing
stops you
On 4 June 2009:
- elections will be held throughout the UK for the European
Parliament
- local elections will be held in some areas of England

To find out which parties and candidates are standing for
election in your region, you need to visit the website of your
Regional Returning Officer. You can
find a list of their websites here.

area, use the postcode search on the right-hand side of this
page.
If you can't make it to a polling station on 4
June
Unfortunately the deadline for applying for a postal or proxy
vote for these elections has now
passed. However, if a medical emergency arises
which will prevent you from getting to a polling station on 4 June,
you can apply for an emergency proxy vote right up until 5 pm on
polling day.
You can download an emergency proxy application here, which
will need to be returned to your local Electoral Registration
Office.
