Are you about to go off to uni? Did know that you can register
to vote at home and at your term-time address? A
UK Parliamentary general election must be held by 3 June 2010.
Register to vote now so wherever you are on election day, you can
have your say.
Registering is easy
When you get to uni, all you
need to do is follow the steps to fill in the
registration form online, then print it off and return it to
the Electoral Registration Officer in your term-time area. You will
need to do this by the end of the day on Tuesday 19
May if you wish to vote on 4 June.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves! You have
to wait until you’ve moved into your term-time address to register
at uni – you can’t do it in advance. In the mean time, if you
haven’t already registered to vote at home, you can do this here
too.
Can I vote twice, at home and at
uni?
You can’t vote twice in:
- a UK Parliamentary, Scottish Parliamentary, National Assembly
for Wales or European Parliamentary election.
- But you can vote in local government elections
at home and at your term-time address, as long as they are not in
the same local government area.
